May 18, 2002 Eight Ball: The Blue Goo Adventure

Game Summary:
Still buzzing from the excitement of Jackpot!, we entered this one-day mini-Game in hopes of filling the void until our next chance to defend our (co-)title.  This one had 31 teams, took place in San Jose and its surrounding cities, and was basically a lot of fun.  There were eight clues, each corresponding to the pool balls from 1 to 8, and the final clue had us mix up various ingredients (determined by the clue locations of the first seven clues) to create a mysterious blue "goo".  A particularly interesting part of this game was that every team was given a custom made "Magic Eight Ball", which revealed hints to the various puzzles along the way.   After being in the lead pack of 5 or so teams for most of the day, we and another team pulled away on the last two clues.  When the smoke cleared, we had finished a very respectable second place, finishing only about 15 minutes behind the Jeffersons (led by Doh! Boys captain Jessen Yu), and we had put another day full of priceless Gaming memories in the book.
